August 29, 2025 | The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), headed by Disaster Response Management Bureau (DRMB) Luzon Island Focal Person, Mr. Jazzner Julian de Dios, personally visited Brgy. Malpoc, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte for the site validation of Project Lawa at Binhi.
MENRO Designate Rhea B. Luangco presented the project briefing. A total of 3,000 fingerlings were released, with an expected harvest of around 400 kilos of tilapia in September 2025. Profit sharing will be 50% for LGU funds and 50% for active beneficiaries.
Mr. Roel Artiaga, the caretaker and chief tanod of Brgy. Malpoc, expressed his gratitude to DSWD for providing the project, saying it is a great help to their community and that they will do their best to sustain it.
Meanwhile, DSWD-DRMB National Focal Person, Mr. Jazzner Julian de Dios, was glad to see the actual lawa and community garden of Brgy. Malpoc. โMagtutulungan tayo para mas mapaigi ang takbo ng inyong pamumuhay at laging handa sa panahon ng kalamidad,โ he said, assuring that the budget allocation for 2026 will increase due to the projectโs success.
The event was also attended by DSWD-DRRS Regional Focal Ms. Alicia T. Marquiso, Provincial TWG Focal Ms. Hannah Ruth Baluarte, MIO Glenn S. Jaen, as well as representatives from DENR, BFAR, DOLE, and TWG members of Tubay and the PLGU.
