August 27, 2025 | The Local Government Unit of Buenavista, headed by Mayor Joselito T. Roble, has officially accepted the hosting of the upcoming Indigenous Peoples (IP) Sports Fest on October 10โ12, 2025.
A total of 500 delegates from different tribes in Agusan del Norte are expected to participate in the event.
PSC Comm. Gaston’s Executive Assistant Joselito Cinco expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome in Buenavista and acknowledged the support of Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante. He emphasized that the IP Sports Fest aims to promote traditional games, especially those of the Higaonon, Manobo, and Mamanwa tribes.
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) will serve as technical support, preparing the list of events and guidelines for the games. They will also ensure that each game is categorized by age group and gender. The PSC will provide T-shirts, meals, and medals for the participants.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education (DepEd), headed by Schools District Superintendent Jeanie L. Mativo, CESO V, committed to preparing the billeting quarters for the delegates.
The LGU of Buenavista will also provide security, sanitation, and transportation services for the event.
