July 29, 2025 โ Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante, together with Mayor Joselito T. Roble, officially launched the two-classroom Baluguan Primary School, Lekda Elementary School Annex in Sitio Baluguan, Brgy. Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
School District Supervisor Ms. Jeannie S. Mativo explained that the construction of the classrooms was prompted by the concern of parents who struggled to find work because they had to walk 8 kilometers to Sitio Lekda to accompany their children to school. โDili makaya sa DepEd, mao nang nagpatabang mi ni Mayor ug ni Gov Angel,โ she said.
Mayor Joselito T. Roble responded to DepEdโs request by constructing temporary classrooms to accommodate 12 students from Kindergarten to Grade 3. After personally witnessing the situation in Sitio Baluguan, Mayor Roble was informed that 50 unenrolled children expressed their desire to attend school after seeing the new classrooms. He then committed to add another classroom to accommodate daycare, and Grades 4 to 6.
He also committed to facilitating the communityโs request to install electricity and a water supply system.
Governor Angel Amante commended Mayor Roble for his swift action. โGrabe, dili ko katuo nga two weeks ra from our meeting, natukod dayon ang classroom,โ she said. The governor also promised to prioritize the construction of permanent classrooms in Sitio Baluguan. โNo child should be left behind. Mga ginikanan, i-priority nato nga maka-eskwela gyud ang atong mga anak aron mahimong malampuson.โ
DepEd and Mayor Roble also ensured that the Sitio Baluguan will have permanent teachers courtesy of LGU Buenavista.
The event was attended by ASDS Hector D. Macalalag, TESDA Provincial Director Rey M. Cueva, Provincial Engineers, Brgy. Simbalan Captain Hon. Walter B. Tuga, IPMR Rep Datu Manlagdaan Virgilio D. Cadeniag Jr., Hon Rianne A. Catabas, Hon. Bernardo S. Galapin, Different Datu representatives, DepEd teachers, PNP and 23rd IB personnel.
