August 5, 2025 | The Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga launched its Learnersโ Rights and Protection (LRP) on Wheels and Bullying Prevention Caravan at Brgy. Lower Olave Elementary School, reaching out to both students and parents.
SGOD Chief, Ms. Glorina L. Siclon, stated that this is the first anti-bullying campaign in Agusan del Norte. She said Buenavista was chosen because it has the largest student population in the province, which has led to a rise in bullying cases. She expressed hope that everyone would learn and become more aware of bullying-related issues.
Atty. Juselle Tricia S. Roble discussed Republic Act 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. She emphasized the importance of creating a โzone of peaceโ for children by providing comprehensive protection from abuse. She simplified key points to educate both students and parents on why physical, psychological, and sexual abuse should never be tolerated.
Ms. Ophelia Egdamin, representing the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), discussed OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children) and issues related to Children in Situations of Armed Conflict (CSAEM).
Meanwhile, representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) also shared valuable information on anti-child trafficking and how it connects to bullying cases.
The event was strongly supported by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) through Ms. Jeanette Parides, LRP Focal Person Dr. May Castaรฑos, Brgy. Lower Olave Captain Hon. Jerry Escobilla, various public school district supervisors, school heads, principals, and personnel from other national government agencies.
