June 27, 2025 β€” Municipal employees participated in a tree planting activity organized by the Local Government Unit (LGU) in support of the 2025 nationwide celebration of Arbor Day, with the theme “Friendship, Health, and Agroforestry.”

The activity was conducted beside the irrigation dam in Sitio Calayagon, Brgy. Malpoc, at around 6:00 AM, where Narra tree seedlings were planted.

The event was spearheaded by Ms. Rhea B. Luangco of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), together with SB Member Hon. Eduardo P. Makiling, Brgy. officials, the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Coast guard, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), and other municipal offices of Buenavista.

Narra, the Philippine national tree, is known for its reddish-brown color, durability, and resistance to termitesβ€”making it ideal for furniture and construction. It is strong, attractive, and valuable due to its high density and natural resistance to pests.
