January 24, 2025 | The Municipality of Buenavista held its first-ever Solo Parent D’Cooking Show contest at Brgy. 2, Covered Court.
In celebration of the 88th Adlaw sa Buenavista, solo parents were recognized for being active and participative throughout the year.
Solo Parent Federation President Atty. Juselle Tricia S. Roble warmly welcomed the 16 participants from different barangays and encouraged them to enjoy and have fun during the contest.
The mechanics required contestants to cook three dishes: a main course (bangus, panit, pawayan), a dessert (kamote, saging, balanghoy), and street foods (with ingredients of their choice).
Each contestant team, composed of three members from the same barangay, had 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish plating their dishes.
Barangay 3 won 1st place in the cooking contest and will receive a plaque and a P20,000 cash prize. Barangay 6 took 2nd place and won a plaque and a P15,000 cash prize. Finally, Barangay Simbalan earned 3rd place, receiving a plaque and a P10,000 cash prize. Non-winning contestants will receive P3,000.
The contest was facilitated by Tourism Officer-Designate Ms. Cecile Valdez, Solo Parent Focal Person Ms. Friejelyn Camacho, and was judged by Mr. Algleen R. Lagrama, Benjamin E. Senaca, and Marilie L. Banabatac.
