February 4, 2025 | Municipal Mayor Hon. Joselito T. Roble officiated the oath-taking ceremony for the newly appointed Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR) at the Mayor’s Conference Room.
Mayor Roble warmly welcomed the new IPMR, Datu “Bugoy” Cadeniag Jr., and expressed his hope that he would continue fostering peace and unity among the tribes in Buenavista. He assured his full support to the IPMR at all times. “I promise to give IPMR office and a conference room here in the municipality of Buenavista.”
Mayor Roble also announced that major investors, such as Del Monte International, is studying the possibility of establishing a plantation at Brgy. Simbalan. This development is expected to generate income and employment opportunities. “I hope that all DATU will prosper.”
On the other hand, Datu Manlagdaan expressed his heartfelt gratitude for being entrusted with the role of IPMR. In his speech, he promised to do his best in addressing the concerns of the Higaonon tribe and to contribute in making Buenavista a peaceful municipality.
The new IPMR was awarded as Most Outstanding Barangay IPMR for 2024 in Caraga and Agusan del Norte. He was also the Palagkudaw (Secretary) of the Giling Indigenous Political Structure and the IPO Chairman of the Giling Indigenous People Organization.
The event was attended by MLGOO Yul O. Guerta, NCIP, Datu Bawang Eddie S. Ampeyawan, Executive Secretary of Gov. Angel Amante, Bae Mae Ann Manggumalas of Lower Olave, Datu Mantinahod Bagay Sulhayan, Datu Mangaidan Leopoldo Bentad, Datu Luis Cadeniag, and Datu Pastor Tangigad.
