September 30, 2025 โ The Municipality of Buenavista, headed by Mayor Joselito T. Roble, proudly supports taekwondo athlete Mr. Sturdy Jay Gilbuena in the Philippine Taekwondo Association 2025 ASEAN Taekwondo Championship.
Mr. Gilbuena, 25 years old, is a resident of Barangay 6, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. He recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Finance, from National University (NU). He is a member of the Philippine National Taekwondo Team, the team captain of the NU Taekwondo Bulldogs varsity, and was awarded Rookie of the Year and MVP during UAAP Season 82. He is also a six-time UAAP gold medalist.
Buenavista Taekwondo Coach Jerry Faith M. Sencil mentored Sturdy Jay during his rookie years and has continually supported his journey to qualify for national and international competitions.
